Henri Matisse created these pochoir prints in his career, and we've reproduced four of these colorful images for our Matisse Cutouts Little Keep It Box of note cards. On the cover and on five of cards is The King's Sadness (La Tristesse du roi, 1951, from the Musee National d'Art Moderne, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris. Also included are are five cards each of images from the illustrated book Jazz (1947) in the Museum of Modern Art, New York: The Codomas, plate XI); Lagoons, plate XVIII; and The Horse, Rider, and Clown, plate V.
The Jazz images are from a portfolio of twenty pochoirs.
